Health food supplement based on carnitine with caffeine & coleus forskohlii (e.g. from roots, forskolin 20%)

 

The most important active principle in Coleus Forskohlii is forskolin (20% dry weight of the root extract is used in the product, 200mg/capsule). For many years forskolin has been noted as an activator of adenil cyclase, an enzyme present in many cells in the human body and particularly abundant in adipocytes, that is, cells of adipose tissue. The first effect of adenil cyclase activation is an intracellular increase in cyclic AMP. This compound regulates cell metabolism. In particular, Forskolin induced activation in adipose tissue releases fatty acids. In other words, it causes a robust lipolisis. The lipolisis and the consequent metabolic use of the fatty acids released means that this product is good for decreasing the fatty tissue in obese people. Preliminary studies of obese subjects are very promising. In fact, two 250mg oral administrations of Coleus F. extract a day for eight weeks had the desired effect. The obese subjects lost a significant amount of fatty tissue. The effect of forskolin on the fatty tissue was also accompanied by a slight lowering of blood pressure.

It is important to underline that the dry extract content in Forskolin is an extremely safe substance. In fact, it presents no toxicity (administration of more than 2g per kilogram of weight did not cause any lethal effects in experimental animals) and does not induce any mutagenic processes (AMES test). Furthermore, various clinical studies evaluating the ability of forskolin to cure bronchial asthma, cardiovascular pathologies, glaucoma, and male sexual dysfunctions, have not found any undesirable side effects.  Forskolin’s action is strengthened and completed by caffeine and carnitine, which are integral parts of this product. In particular, carnitine is able to transport the fatty acids (products of forskolin action) inside the mitochondria where they degrade in several stages with the production of energy. This substance is therefore indispensable in lipid catabolism (lipolisis, “fat burning” action). Caffeine is able to inhibit the enzyme phosphodiesterase that degrades cyclic AMP formed by forskolin action. Forskolin and caffeine have an important synergic action on adipocytes to release and consequently diminish fats through controlled degradation (effected by carnitine).

The thermogenic-fat burning action of the product is therefore the result of targeted, synergic, and simultaneous action by three substances blended in optimal quantities. What is more, the greater fat loss results in greater energy production that the subject can utilise to increase lean mass (muscle) and during physical exercise.
