What you should know:
In the human organism, proteins mainly have a plastic/structural role, while from an energy point of view, in normal physiological conditions, they are of scarce importance. Proteins supply the majority of the "bricks" (amino acids) that we are made from and they become a substratum of energetic nature only in extreme conditions (e.g. prolonged fasting).
It is well known that the absorption speed of amino acids and small peptides in the gastrointestinal tract varies a great deal depending on the protein they come from. The type of protein determines the formation of peptides (di-, tri-peptides) that are different in quantity and quality. Milk proteins (the majority being caseins) remain in the stomach for the same time as milk serum proteins, but are absorbed more slowly in the small intestine.
Therefore, although absorption and digestibility are relatively lower in caseins, we must remember they supply di-, tri-peptides that are different and complementary to serum proteins. Furthermore, caseins have certain points in their favour with respect to serum protein. On the basis of current literature, the table shows a relative comparison between caseins and serum protein.

To finalise, the use of serum proteins or caseins or a mixture of them both depends on various factors. For example, if an athlete is increasing his muscular mass he needs a higher intake (not exclusively) of serum protein (Whey Protein90). On the other hand, if he must avoid muscular catabolism, caseins (Milk Protein90) could be more useful.
It should be noted, that recently methods for preparing caseins have been perfected that have greatly improved solubility, without forming lumps (instant processes).

Indications for use:
SPORT: besides the nutritional features of proteins, their intake as a supplement is indicated in sports every time the thin mass (muscular mass) needs increasing or maintaining, reducing the fat mass.
Dose: for athletes practising power sports, we can recommend up to 1.6-1.7 g/kg of body weight. These doses should satisfy requests for increasing/maintaining muscular mass. For athletes in resistance sports, we recommend 1.2-1.4 g/kg of body weight to maintain muscular mass. Dissolve 3 measures (corresponding to 30g) in at least 80-100 ml of water or skimmed milk. The pack contains a 10g measure.
DAILY LIFE: This product is useful in diets poor in high protein foods (meat, fish) and for anybody wishing to reduce carbohydrate and fat intake during low calorie slimming diets. Milk proteins are of high biological level and can replace meat (as a source of protein) for anyone needing to reduce intake of cholesterol, fat or who suffer from hyperuricemia.
Dose: the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of proteins is 0.8 g/kg of body weight.
