Stargel+

StarGel+ is a balanced solution of simple and complex glucydes (carbohydrates) capable of providing energy at short, medium and long term. The product comes in the form of concentrated and gelled sugar solution (gel = transitional form between liquid and solid state) with an excellent flavour. In addition to its proenergetic action, StarGel+ is able to act as a tonic/stimulant, increase stress tolerance and protect the muscle from intense and prolonged exercise-induced wearing out. ?

In particular, the energy provided by StarGel+ carbohydrates can be used in an interval of time ranging from several minutes to a couple of hours after the intake. This reflects the different time of absorption of individual carbohydrates (short for dextrose and fructose, gradually longer for maltodextrins and Vitargo?). It is also important to remember that dextrose and fructose are monosaccharides (simple sugars with low molecular weight), whereas maltodextrin and Vitargo? are complex polysaccharides with high and very high molecular weight, respectively. The relative amounts of these carbohydrates in the product (31% dextrose, 31% fructose, 31% maltodextrin, 7% Vitargo?) does not alter blood sugar levels even after multiple intakes (eg. 2 or 3 40 cc. sachets  at a time). Therefore, there is no risk of inducing reactive hypoglycemia during the performance (which is usually accompanied by sudden fatigue, feeling of hunger and muscle aches).

Caffeine is the tonic/stimulant component of the product: a well-studied biochemical mechanism (caffeine can enhance the action of hormones such as adrenaline and noradrenaline) increases fat metabolism and baseline metabolism in general, enhances alertness and attention and decreases the perception of fatigue and pain. ?

By increasing muscle carnosine the β-alanine is able to partially inhibit the effects of lactic acid in muscles, provide greater physical resistance and improve anaerobic and aerobic performance. Finally, HMB is able to prevent or reduce muscle damages associated with intense and/or prolonged efforts. In general, this prevention and/or reduction of muscle damage leads to a significant improvement in both aerobic (eg. increase in muscle oxygen peak consumption, delayed formation of lactic acid) and anaerobic performance (increased muscle strength) and a decreased perception of muscle pain.

Usage: ?

1) for maintaining a balanced energy intake especially during the final stage of intense and prolonged exercises; the product is advisable for 30-60 minutes of exercise after the intake; ?

2) for preventing energy shortage, especially unexpected and sudden; ?

3) for restoring glycogen reserves, particularly at muscular level. Given the extreme digestibility of the product, it is recommended to use it during the most pronounced efforts. ??

Doses: the intake must be proportionate to the number of calories burnt by the athlete. At least one packet per hour of exercise or, alternatively, 1-2 sachets to prevent or better deal with crisis. ??

Contraindications: at recommended doses, the product has no contraindications, even for prolonged use. Athletes with diabetes or those sensitive to caffeine should consult a physician.
